Why I Left Jihad is a powerful examination of Islam from several, multi-faceted angles. Walid Shoebat is a Palestinian-American and former Muslim who was raised in the West Bank and later emigrated to the US. Why I Left Jihad is one of several books he has written to expose the globalist Islamic agenda and the tactical strategies of terrorism. Most of his books cover the same ground and much of the prophetic analysis of Islam and the end-times contained in this book came right from his previous book, God's War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible, which he co-wrote with Joel Richardson. The most important difference between the two is how Shoebat personalizes Why I Left Jihad. The books opens with a brief biography and his personal testimony of discovering Jesus Christ in the Bible and subsequently converting to Christianity (this book has a definite evangelical thrust and tone but Walid Shoebat is a Roman Catholic). There has been some debate about the details of his past life in Palestine. Shoebat claims to have been recruited into terrorism when, as a teenager, he took part in an attempt to throw a bomb into an Israeli bank. He chickened out instead and the bomb went off harmlessly on the roof of the bank. While this story is disputed by researchers who claim it never took place, I found the story to be based on a common technique of recruitment in which a fairly harmless device is used to test the mettle of a potential recruit. Shoebat failed and the device in question never drew enough attention to warrant an investigation. But it did disqualify Shoebat from further or deeper recruitment into a terror cell (even Shoebat may not have understood the implications of the incident). Shoebat studied the Bible in an attempt to influence his American wife to convert to Islam. Instead he discovered the Truth about Jesus Christ. After his conversion he went on to a more in-depth study of Islamic and Middle East history, antisemitism, Christianity and Bible prophecy. Why I Left Jihad is a compilation of all he discovered on his spiritual journey, a journey all modern Christians, Jews, Muslims and secularists are challenged to take between the pages of this powerful and well-researched book. Certainly his prophetic views will bother many mainstream evangelicals whose depth of prophetic and historical knowledge don't go much further than Tim LaHaye's Left Behind series or those 1970-80s Hal Lindsay best-sellers that were all based on a 1950s "Dallas Theological Seminary" prophetic model. Islam has been seriously underestimated by the modern Church. Shoebat brings up many scriptures overlooked by mainstream prophecy writers. Yet Shoebat himself sometimes neglects verses to make his point (Revelation 18 and most of the scriptures pertaining to the Rapture). Yet on the balance, he raises some important and often overlooked points that need to be dragged out and examined if we want to comprehend the full counsel of the word of God -- especially given the challenges of Islam in the 21st Century. This is an important book. So get it and read it. It is highly recommended.

Very interesting point of view. Many trash the author because he wasn't terrorist "enough"... really? How much terrorist do you need to be to have an inside view? I guess if you are always looking to dismiss the Islam faith's relationship to terrorism then terrorist "enough" is a worthy question that simply can't be answered, so you can never, therefore, question Islam's relationship to terror. Convenient.

It's interesting that some give credence to his family's rejection of Walid Shoebat as evidence for his dishonesty. In my estimation this is just their pathetic last defense against his critical examination of Islam. Anyone who is familiar with the dynamics of Islam knows that family pressure is a life/death force keeping some Muslims as putative adherents rather than allowing them to pursue their own beliefs.Shoebat's comparison of the Koran, the New Testament and the Torah is accurate. His decision to follow his intellectual findings rather than his family's heritage bespeaks a rare form of intellectual honesty and courage.As a young man in Bethleham, Shoebat was raised to believe "it was a righteous thing to grow up and kill Jews." His mother was an American and never dared express her own beliefs, since Walid's family suspected she was not a faithful Muslim. At times he grew up hating his own mother and asking his father to divorce her. On the other hand, she did take him to visit museums and the original scroll of Isaiah (without comment), which ignited a lifelong interest in archeology. He was later to rescue her in 1995 and return her to the United States after being virtually imprisoned by her family for 35 years.He became a member of the PLO and was eventually jailed in Jerusalem's Muscovite Prison for his violent activities. On release he returned to his terrorist activities, bombing an Israeli bank in his home town.He came to the United States and enrolled at Loop College in Chicago where he continued his political activities raising money and recruiting volunteers to fight in the Middle East.Shoebat gradually withdrew from his activism and married. He started to convert his wife to Islam but she asked, "Show me in the Bible the bad things the Jews did." He started to read the Bible and history (rather than the fables he had been taught in Bethlehem). The result was his discovery that the Bible was a much more honest portrayal of history than the Koran and Muhammad. Mr. Shoebat had the great courage to follow his discovery into a new world where hate was not the defining emotion. He finally realized, "Maria, I think I was wrong to try to convert you to Islam."In the process Mr. Shoebat became a serious biblical scholar. More than half of this book is devoted to his interpretations of its many prophetic passages. I am not qualified to evaluate this portion of the book, but the early chapters alone make it well worth buying.For those with a more secular bent, I strongly recommend his second book, "Why We Want to Kill You."

Learn and understand what motivates Jihad, suicide bombers, hate toward Jews; learn what the Koran (Muslim Bible) contains and why it is taught, memorized, and verbally repeated in schools, mosques (church), homes, public squares, military training… from cradle to grave; learn what Shiriah law is and how it benefits/strengthens Muslim men and destroys/weakens Muslim women. Your eyes will be open to why this man left Jihad when he began reading, studying and comparing the God of the Bible vs. the man of the Koran. Awesome read; I couldn't put it down.

This book has parts that are difficult to follow, but it really helps to understand Islam. Allah is NOT the God of Scripture and he WILL be defeated once and for all very soon! The Bible is clear how to detect a false prophet, but the god of this age has deceived many through many false prophets. We are to test the spirits.

I found this book to be fascinating and I loved this book as it taught me about Islam and why the extremists hate people outside of their religion. Hatred still doesn't make sense to me as Jesus and God teaches us to love all peoples. I believe this author is doing a great work to educate the world about why the future events told about in the Bible are going to happen so that we will be aware, but still know that God is our protection from all evil.

Utah in the 1880’s is heavy with Mormons, the aftermath of the Mountain Massacre and killing of its leader, Joseph Smith, leaves a bitter taste for some. In a little place called Junction a late night caller sets in motion a series of events with everlasting consequences.I will admit at the beginning wondering if this book was for me. First off I was excited when the first chapter featured a male POV, it's not common so when it happens I get excited. Of course, the whole book was divided between his (Nels) and Deborah’s story. Why was I a bit iffy you ask, well I found the first female chapter a little repetitive with the same feelings, emotions repeating itself. I found myself casing judgment on Deborah's character before really getting to know her. As the story progressed those feelings quickly disappeared. It wasn’t just a story of what was happening in the now but memories resurfaced where I got to know both Deborah and Nels better. How they ended up in this little place with few neighbors and away from Mormon communities. The author wove those jumps in time seamlessly, with an ease that made this story flow at a nice pace.The Glovemaker is a unique mystery, it’s a story of survival, hope, and faith. Ann Weisgarber is a new author to me with her previous books now gracing my tbr pile. Definitely a book I recommend, especially to those that like a good historical mystery off the beaten path.

This book focused very much on morals much like one would see in fables or tales of the values of determination, passion, etc.If you are a person who loves the more spiritual side of life then this book may appeal to you. It also shows a lot on where mental toughness gets you as well as some of Michael Jordan's day-to-day schedule of staying in top shape for his games. I especially liked how he talked about days where he didn't feel like doing much, and how he daily looked for something to keep himself motivated. Finally, he has interesting parents and Michael- just like his mother and father is an extremely intense personality, and the most competitive one around!

It is great to be able to purchase books on Michael Jordan and not pay outrageous amounts (hmm, like the shoes). Amazon makes the process very pleasant by dealing with sellers like these folks. The book was in great condition, exactly as described and it arrived in a timely manner. The content is remarkable, everything one might want to know on what made Jordan rise above all others. At 205 pages, it is a bit larger than most hardcover editions without being a full sized coffee table edition. It contains numerous illustrations and photgraphs. It will look wonderful alongside my 'Cigar Aficionado' Jordan cover edition, something eBooks could never do...

This book has 200 pages more than half are pictures and clip art and photos (50%) The rest of the book (40%) is Michaels relationship with some Nike Folks, and 10% reflects on the title "driven from with in". This book is not written by Michael and only quotes are really described. It's mainly from a perspective of the nike brand and how they worked with him to create the Jordan shoes. Nothing really to do with in, it was over priced and I Recommends Phil's book 11 rings which was a real book versus this garbage! Holler back Michael Or he's staff hope to hear back!! If you can ! Do not buy!!

It covers branding and building a product but it also deals with motivation.The book goes into great detail about MJ and his strong desire to have a product that reflected him. His resistance of corporate input to insist his shoes be to his liking...and his success in this.It is also filled with quotes about what helped make Michael so good in basketball.A wonderful insightful, motivational book.

Why would shoes from a sub-par player have much appeal?Just as the title states - extremely disappointing.

Love this book! Fantastic for motivation and looking into the awesome brain of Michael Jordan. Got this book used so the cover was a little beat up but overall it was in fantastic condition for the price.

Enjoyable read. It was interesting to learn about Michael and his shoe line. Would recommend to others who are sneaker heads.

The simple summary of this book is that penguin is being told that he needs to say "please" when he wants something. We also have the Bears Says Thank You and I give some credit to that book for helping my 16 month old start saying "Thank You" unprompted and in the right context. It helped reinforce what her dad and I say to her and it quickly became her favorite book. This one has not topped her list of favorites yet, but I think that over time it will become a favorite.

I have a lot of trouble getting my 11 month old to sit still so I can read to her, she would rather eat books than listen to/look at them. I thought I would try this one, since she loves penguins. I’m glad I did, because she loves it. There are only a couple words per page and the story is really short even for a kids book so she is able to pay attention to it the entire time. I would definitely recommend this for babies with incredibly short attention spans like mine.

This is a very simple book that is excellent for encouraging your toddler to say "please." There really isn't much of a story-- at first Penguin is demanding things without saying please, then his mom tells him he must say please, then he repeats his requests saying please. Nonetheless, my daughter LOVES this book and is happy to read it many times in one sitting. I have been working on teaching her to sign "please" and after signing it with her throughout several readings, now she knows the sign! I'll definitely be purchasing more books from this series.

While this book hasn't yet gotten my toddler (who has been signing for a while but just started speaking) to actually say or sign please, now she smiles and nods when I ask, instead of becoming infuriated. I don't know what the heck she thought "please" meant, but she would go bananas whenever I'd encourage her to say it. Since she really loves the illustrations (especially when the penguin is upside-down), I'm hoping she'll come around to actually *saying* please pretty soon, but since this has eliminated the mini "please"-based tantrums, I'm calling it a win.Very sturdy book, bright colors, sweet illustrations, small enough to pop in the diaper bag, short enough to read in a minute or two if the kid wants several encores.

Thank you Michael Dahl, for getting my daughter to say please & thanks! We bought this book, along with "Bear Says Thank You," in a hope to teach my 2 year old manners. It worked! She loved the books and had me read them over and over again to her. It's now been 2 years since we purchased, and sometimes we have to remind her, but for the most part she still remembers her "pleases" and "thank yous." And, she still love the books!

Love these books and I'm sure we have almost every one of them by now. These are easy for my daughter to follow along with and learn from. Started reading these to my daughter when she started biting at about a year and she's been picking different books from this series for the past 8 months when it's story time.

My penguin loving 19 month old boy absolutely loves this book! We have been reading it over & over as soon as it was delivered today!

my 18-month-old is loving this Hello Genius series, and we have the entire set. This is one of the latest to join us. Since she's learning how to speak, I thought that learning manners would be a good thing to add to her vocabulary, and purchased this book. It helps that she likes penguins -- the bossy little penguin in the beginning of the story is gently chastised by his mommy, and learns to preface requests with "please" rather than just demanding things. Simple story. Good for short toddler attention spans. And after a few reads, she started attempting to say "please" when asking for snacks or stories to be read to her!

Cute book. My daughter (20 months) likes reading this one over and over, but still loves the polar bear one saying thank you better than this one. It's pretty cute and gets the point across.

This is my first purchase of a Pathfinder Flip-Mat product. I needed a tavern/inn for a campaign that I'm planning for my Dungeons & Dragons group, and I had been weighing several of the taverns featured in the Pathfinder Flip-Mats lineup. Ultimately, I took a chance on this Bigger Tavern despite not having any idea what I was going to receive. Happily, this map fulfills all of my immediate requirements plus has some unexpected versatility.This is a nice sized map - 27" x 39" - on heavy paper stock (just short of card stock, really). The map is ruled with a 1" grid. On one side, a tavern with three other buildings surrounds a courtyard with a well. The entrance lies off a dirt track leading to a nearby road (not depicted). There is a double wooden gate and a small gatekeeper's room - a nice touch - securing the courtyard. Across from the gate is a large stable. Next to it is a smithy. Across the yard from the stable is the tavern proper connected to another building filled with various accommodations for guests. One side of the map depicts everything from a bird's-eye perspective with roofs. The flip side of the map mirrors the layout with the interiors portrayed.Color: Everything except for the strip of ground around the perimeter of the buildings is painted in shades of brown and tan. Reds, greens, and blues are used for rugs and other furnishings. The palette gives a definite country side tone to this layout.Stable: The stable measures 85' x 35' in D & D scale. Two-thirds of this building is the stable proper, with a row of stalls on one side, a hay-pile in the center, and two 10' wide entrances. The other section is a room with a long table adjoined by a narrow room with three beds. This could be used as a guest accommodation or the living area of the farrier/blacksmith whose smithy is located next door.Smithy: This 25' x 30' building has what seems like a circular central fire-pit. Against the back wall is the forge connected to a large bellows. An anvil and tables with smithing tools and accoutrements completes this feature.Tavern: The centerpiece, figuratively, of this complex is a generous 120' x 45' scale rectangular bar. A kitchen and the back bar area are added on one end. Five long tables with two benches per side and six square tables with four wooden chairs each allows your party to carouse with a sizable group of NPC merry-makers (48 by my count at one creature per grid square). There aren't any alcoves or booths allowing for shady deals and rumors to be whispered among patrons, but there is a 20' x 20' private room connected by a door to this common area where such intrigues can take place. The level of thought given to the details is evidenced by the flooring. Wooden planks cover the aleroom except along the wall where two fireplaces glow. There, stone flagging is portrayed. Likewise in the kitchen, the portion with the fireplace and where barrels and crates of foodstuffs sit has stone flooring. All the tables and the bar have tankards, goblets, and platters scattered over them. A well upholstered chair sits in front of one fireplace, a fitting seat in which a haughty noble or rich merchant can relax while thieves or assassins target them.Guestrooms: A variety of rooms offer weary adventurers a place to restore hit points and spell slots for varying amounts of coin. At one end of this building, which is connected to the tavern by the private room mentioned previously, is a communal dormitory room with eight beds packed cheek-by-jowl. Eight other rooms containing either one or two double beds offer more privacy and comfort. At the far end is a suite of three bedrooms plus one more large bedroom. The suite could be the most luxurious accommodation offered or act as the tavern keeper's living area. Chests, wardrobes, and sidetables with chairs are added to all of these lodging areas.Details: As mentioned earlier, care was put into the addition of little details throughout this set of buildings. Cloak racks line the wall beside the tavern door, some walls in the rooms and corridors of the lodging building have what could be interpreted as mirrors or paintings, firewood sits beside the hearths - there's even a small herb and vegetable garden in one corner of the courtyard. Doors and windows are clearly depicted, and trees conveniently spread their branches near the perimeter fence connecting the buildings, giving rogues and spies avenues of approach. As another reviewer of a different Pathfinder tavern map pointed out, though, the publishers missed an opportunity when they left out a privy. One corner of the yard has a perfect 10' x 15' area where a communal latrine could neatly fit, providing additional encounter opportunities for crafty DMs.Summary: I purchased this map to use in an urban adventure setting. As such, I will have to ask my players to willingly suspend disbelief regarding the grassy surroundings to this set of buildings and picture them surrounded by muddy alleys and cobble-stoned streets. However, this map will serve perfectly as a small block of buildings in my slum quarter. The tavern can readily exist as an alehouse operating next to tenements and small business establishments. The visual appeal and game-ready grid makes this map a valuable time-saver for me. When I finally have my party of stalwart adventurers travel out into the countryside, I'll have a perfect way-station ready to slake their thirsts and lighten their purses. 100% satisfied.

HUUUUGE Tavern! One side shows the buildings with the roofs on, the other side is a cutaway with roofs off showing the interior. This tavern is really a mini complex with a stable and blacksmith buildings as well. Why only four stars? There is no outhouse or bathroom anywhere despite having bed space for a couple dozen people not to mention the huge bar area. If anyone from Paizo reads these reviews, please remember the potty area, it's a great place to ambush someone, especially if the usually wear armor!

I have purchased about 20 of the Pathfinder Map Packs and Flip Mats. They are all very high quality. The paper that they are printed on is incredibly thick and rugged. We play D&D on our yacht while sailing around the Caribbean and even in the hot humid environment these look like they will last for years. We are very pleased with these maps, they are a real benefit to our games and make my job as DM so much easier. We have a printer on board so could download (or create from scratch) and print our own maps, but why bother. These maps are such a great quality that it would be a waste of my time to try and do it myself.I will be purchasing (many) more.The Bigger Tavern is 9" longer than most Pathfinder Flip Mats. One side is an exterior view while the other side shows interior view of a large tavern (50'x70') with a stable (35'x60'), a 12 room Inn (40'x100'), and more. This is not your typical roadside inn, this is a major stopping point along a well traveled highway.

This is my favorite Translation of Faust. Not only is it very accurate to the original German (and keeping the occult / arcane references in tact) but it also keeps the flow and rhythm in tact as well. Many translations of Faust (Parts 1 and 2) into English change Heinrich Faust's name to Henry / Henri, or Harry. And they often don't understand the various occult references like The Key of Solomon (which sometimes gets randomly translated into a singular spell or scroll that is "Solomon's Key" misunderstanding that this is a real Grimoire).This edition is easy to follow and it's unpretentious (many translations try to make Goethe sound like Shakespeare and he was not Shakespeare, he had his own style.This is both Faust Parts 1 and 2 (which is preferred for any collector) and illustrated. I had a free digital copy of this edition for many years and I am glad to finally have it in physical format. There's nothing quite like having a real, tactile book in your hands. I wish it was in hardcover but at least it's available now in paperback. And reasonably priced too. I highly recommend this for any fan of Goethe who needs a good English translation.

I've read the George Madison Priest translation, the Stuart Atkins, The Walter Arndt, and this translation by Kline. What Priest did was extraordinary poetically, and it has good fluidity. Stuart Atkins is probably the most literal translation. Walter Arndt felt forced and not natural, but is good to have because it's a Norton Critical Edition that can help decipher what this tragedy means. Even Jung himself couldn't pluck the mystery from it's heart. the Kline translation is my all around favorite. It reads lucidly and it not just has surface beauty, with poetic devices, but has depth beauty too, in that you understand precisely what the whole story is about. I would have the reader go for the most literal translation with Atkins, but Kline's somehow manages both feats. If only it came in a hard cover or leather bound so it lasts generations because one reading of Faust isn't enough to understand the entirety of the story. Like all great books, it will speak something new to you during every stage of your life. There is nothing accidental about anything in this book, it all fits together. The only other author who has managed to make nothing accidental in their great works is Plato. I don't say that lightly.

Beautifully printed and presented but I would have appreciated, and expected, an introduction to provide a context. I probably should have read the description more carefully to see if there was an introduction. Since I do not know German, I cannot comment on the translation but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this English version which was both clear and powerful.

I have found it hard to read. It is a translation from German into English and for me it has been hard to understand. This is not a complaint, literature sometimes is hard to comprehend.

I loved the book, especially part 2. I predicted the end to an extent, however, never fully expected the journey's characters and contributions. It's a hard read, but very much worth the effort.

I started reading the Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat for Binge Eating last night and finished it this morning. I cried, I laughed, I become angry, and now I'm excited. It's as if the book was describing my life. I want to stand on top of the tallest building I can find and yell at the world: I TOLD YOU SO! Dr. May's first book (Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat) started the change in my life to be in charge of my food. Ms. Anderson's work is going to help me be in charge of my life. The work they are both doing in this area is so vitally important for helping the millions of people who struggle with binge eating. I've come a long way in the past three years on my own, but the techniques presented in this book are what I need to help me work through the rest of my challenges. Thank you both, from the bottom of my soul!

I have to say that I very rarely write book reviews, but I had to stop and write one for this particular book. It is an extremely eye opening, well written, and effective book on the subject. I have shared it with several people in my life and it has been life changing for every single person. If you are looking for methods to aid with Binge Eating this is a great resource for you. The authors are very relatable, the methods are effective, the stories reveal the hidden aspects of binge eating.

This book is a true lifesaver. I bought both the digital and the hardcopy because I carried it with me everywhere and kept misplacing it from referencing it so much. I brought it with me because it is a fantastic reference when I get stressed out and want to solve my problems by eating. I never realized how much my overeating was tied up in my emotions and how I turned to food like an addiction. At one time in my life I ate when I was hungry, but after overeating when I was pregnant, I started on the diet roller coaster when the weight didn't come off fast enough. I never could stick with anything for long and eventually I couldn't do any diet without completely bingeing, after only a few short days. What this book teaches is not easy, it is work, but it will teach you to get in touch with the feelings and start eating more mindfully and with more awareness as to why you are doing what you do. It isn't a quick fix by any means but I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel, I no longer hate myself for what I am putting in my mouth on a daily basis. When rough situations strike I don't immediately start bingeing into oblivion, I actually am starting to recognize what I am doing and make a choice. This book has so much information packed into it that it takes daily reading just to start understanding and implementing all of it. I journal to go along with it daily and I find that if I stop that, and the daily readings, I start slipping back into old behaviors. This book truly can save your life if you are caught up in the "overeat, hate yourself the next day" cycle. Learn how to gain back your self esteem and quit hating yourself as you start on a true recovery from your food addiction.

You're not alone in this silent battle. You're feelings are real, and they deserve to be acknowledged so you can begin your road to recovery to becoming a new, whole you from the inside out.

I really enjoyed the book. It was an easy ready and had some tips that I have encorporated into my daily life.

Even though I am not technically a "binge" eater this book contained a lot of valuable information. A great companion to the Eat What You Love series.
