Author Roland collects the evidence, witnesses and testimonies of German women who served in various positions in the Nazi stateAll are named, with bios, photos, and meticulously researched and patently damning evidence.All were guilty, but in widely varying degrees - from willfully ignorant secretaries to psychopathic death camp killers. Very few were prosecuted, many thousands allowed to disappear safely into post war obscurity.This book shreds the myth that German women were themselves "unwitting" victims of the Nazi horror. A very enlightening read. Highly recommended.
This is among the worst books I have read about Nazi Germany. I hardly know where to start. Much of the first part of the book is a inane quasi-Freudian analysis, not of Nazi women, but of Hitler himself. This theme pops up so frequently in regard to other Nazi leaders, as well as to individual German women, that I had to double-check the publication date. Even if his analyses had been well-done, they would be decades out of date.The "portraits" of Nazi women, which are somewhat rambling and chronologically confused, are for the most part confined to a paragraph or so, and usually presented in terms of the men around them. I was disappointed that there were no in-depth presentations, and no coherent attempt at analyzing or explaining his subject.Finally, there are innumerable instances of factually incorrect and/or illogical information, repetition, and such awkward writing that one has to work hard to twist out the meaning.Had this book been written by a high school student, I wouldn't be surprised.
It is a good book, if you want to learn about what was going on during that period of time. But all guards should have been executed.
Not all German women fell in with the Nazisduring the Hitler years, but many did.They were attracted to the violence and the power.Nazi Women: The Attraction of Evil, is a case study ofsome of the women who wanted to be part of somethingmany didn't fully see, and about some who knew exactly whatthey were seeing.The reader is taken into the inner circle of some of the Nazihigher ranking officials, and into their mindset.If you are a history enthusiast, you will enjoy reading about thistime of turmoil from a different perspective.

Well researched. This book sheds light on the truth we suspected but wanted for our own humanity to not see....they knew.
Always wondered how and why women of Nazi Germany did what they did and this book gives a lot of detail. The women of Hitler's inner circle are and interesting lot.
Not what I expected. OK read but not great.
