I have to admit that I was skeptical of several of the reviews before mine. This is a new book, and many of the reviewers only had one review; this book. I was nearly finished with Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow, and I was excited to see that there was a field of psychology called Behavioral Finance (the emotions and thought processes of how we interact with financial decisions and other decision making). Sadly, the author of Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow had no clinical studies on Traders, so I was about to try to translate his research into something worth while for traders, thankfully I found this book just in time! Dr. Gary saved me a lot of work!I think this may be the best trading psychology / trading book I've ever read. That complement is not meant to take anything away from other great authors such as: Van Tharp, Williams, Douglas or J. Rande Howell, this book complements all of their work. The author pulls together material from many different authors and scientific sources, and puts it together in a very comprehensive format. I like that Dr. Gary appreciates the wisdom and experience of trading psychologists that have gone before him, freely giving credit to his sources and case studies so readers know where to look for additional information. Lots of other trading books try to teach you something new, or to educate in one way or another. This book helps to make sense of the entire trading process as seen through our emotions, and teaches how to accept your emotions for the fleeting things that they are, but not get trapped by them.I also highly recommend The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters. It is not a trading book, but it clearly describes how we are emotional animals, and that the instinctual emotions programmed into our DNA may be beneficial for our survival as individuals and a society, (but if you read between the lines), you will see these same base instincts are responsible for creating self sabotage patterns in all different areas of our lives, and are also responsible for trading disasters as well. Observing and reconditioning our thoughts is the key difference between an average life of struggle, and a life of purposeful achievement with reduced frustration (dare I say joy?). When I read both books during the same time period, my understanding of the mind was greatly expanded.

This book is rather overlooked and underrated. In the trading community there are always the same recommended books that people rave about. This isn’t one of them. My wife wanted to get it for me to help improve my mental state when trading and i was skeptical because nobody else had ever talked about it before. I’m glad my wife got it for me because it’s extremely relevant to how I’m trading now and comes with many tips and exercises to work on your mindfulness. Trading is almost 99% mental once you get everything else down, and this is the hardest part to get right. This book will help you work on your mental mistakes and shortcomings, teach you how to meditate and how to work your way out of a trading slump. Highly recommended if you’ve been holding yourself back from profits ie: cutting trades early, not respecting stops, hesitation jumping in, lack of confidence etc. This book will open your eyes to what you’ve been struggling.

This book is a great guide through some of the parts of human psychology that relate to trading. The author explains such things as loss aversion, fear(s) in trading, and what I found to be very helpful is what the author refers to as "fusion". Fusion is how we get hijacked by our thoughts and are diverted away from the ability to trade profitably. The author not only explains the emotional difficulty we all go through as traders, he has methods for working with our emotions too. He teaches the reader that emotions can't be eliminated, but by using "mindfulness", a kind of personal awareness that is similar to meditation, a trader can de-fuse from our hijacking thoughts and stay focused on the trade. By de-fusing from the thoughts we in effect de-fuse from the emotion too. "Trade Mindfully" is well worth the price and there is much more on the authors website. Highly recommended.

This book is very overrated. It doesn't really offer much new in the realm of trading psychology. It also doesn't effectively summarize the critical parts. Book is also crazy repetitive. The author may disagree here but it's because his approach is very theoretical, where so called distinctions, if any, are drawn over minuscule matters. Just think about it for a second, Do you really need a dense 280 page book to tell you how to trade mindfully?. The author lost a chance to offer a practical blue collar guide that is implementable. Instead, the book is written to impress the authors colleagues. It is not written for you. Another criticism I have of the authors style is that it's very dry, boring and repetitive. He also insists on using the female pronoun in his examples which I am having a tough time connecting with as they interpret flow and coherence. I am sure all of the 5 women who trade in the world are happy about this but with a readership base that is 95% men it seemed like you went out of your way to be less coherent and have diverged from a tradition by other prominent trading psychologists unnecessarily.I don't recommend this book. I started by wanting to give it two stars which I then turned into one star because I couldn't think of anything that I learnt from this book. Drop this book and pick up Trading in the Zone by the master Mark Douglas or TraderMind by Steve Ward. Both have a hands on approach since they have physically helped numerous traders in one-on-one sessions. Ignore this book and don't buy into the hype and the rating it has.

This review was written after completing 8 out of 9 volumes (the last isn't released yet). The thing about series is that you don't think about buying particular volume if you already like the whole story. This is not the case when the author gets 'burned out' somewhere in the middle and continues writing for whatever reason. No, this story is solid and complete. If you've started it, you'll finish it.

Good book

Just what I expect from Izumi Miyazono-Sensei. Beautiful drawing and witty sorry is her norm. I can't wait to read what our two protagonists getvup to in further volumes! Thank you so much for bringing Sensei's work to the US.

~4/5We find out just how serious Kamiya is about his proposal to Asuka in this volume. And he's more serious than I expected. He's going to more devious levels to get into Asuka's head, and he's rather upfront about his wants, even to Ryu.I do like how stern Asuka is about his advances, but at the same time, I don't think she's being completely honest with Ryu. And I think that Kamiya is messing with her head more than she wants to admit. I don't like it.I do like seeing how firm Ryu is about them, though. He's very insistent about his feelings and his want to be with Asuka. I like seeing that.Near the end of the volume, it drifts to seeing Ryu's work day, and we see just how busy he is and how maturely he handles it. He's got a new guy under him, and I like seeing how Ryu is challenging the guy, and pushing the boundaries. Ryu's good at what he does, and it's obvious.A new volume of this is always good. Be advised, the listing says “Hardcover” yet the books are actually paperbacks in a cardboard slipcase. I’m pretty sure the “Hardcover” format is an error in the listing as even the pictures show paperback books. So, take that into consideration when purchasing.Now, the biggest complaint I have (aside from the misleading listing), and the only reason I’m not giving this a full five star rating, is the fact that the slipcase is junk. It’s very cheap, thin cardboard that doesn’t stand up to the weight of the books. On the case I received, three corners were crushed and two seams were torn (one seam was torn almost halfway to the back corner as depicted in my images). The books were actually in great shape which surprised me given the slipcase‘s horrid condition. I expected the books to have damaged edges but they were pristine. There’s not much I can do with the slipcase except try to cut it apart to at least salvage the artwork. It’s completely useless for storing the books or even for display.Speaking to the content of the books, I haven’t had a chance to read through all of them yet, but with a cursory glance, they look pretty decent. The artwork is nice, though due to the printing and binding some of the art and text gets lost in the gutter. The books don’t follow the game story lines to the letter, but they’re close enough. And they have some bonus content which is pretty neat. The only thing people who are die-hard fans of the games may not like is the fact that Link speaks. But it makes sense for print (he needs to respond to people around him and develop as a character which would be difficult if everything was in thought bubbles).I think the books are definitely worth the money (junk slipcase included) and I would highly recommend them. They're a must for any Legend of Zelda fan!

I was so excited when this finally came in the mail, I ordered it for my son for christmas and I can't wait to see his face when he opens it. He loves the legand of zelda, his favorite is majoras mask because it has Fierce Deity in it. The only problem i experienced was with opening the package. It was wrapped in a very very thin plastic and the corners of the zelda box cover has small tears and such. Though what matters more to me is that the books are okay because in the end that matters more to me than the box cover. Besides I can just take a thicker cardboard and glue the parts of the box cover to the thicker cardboard so im not worried. Other than that I'm very please.

My boys have been into Zelda since we got them the game for their Switch. They are also avid readers. I splurged on this set that is more expensive than I would normally want to pay, because it was a Christmas present. Both boys have read them, and they reread them. It’s been almost 4 months now, and I still find them pulling these out to read. I feel like anything that encourages a love of reading is worthwhile, and this set definitely fits the bill. Highly recommend for anyone looking to encourage reading for fun.

My personal opinion:Pros:- The art is great, with the same style of the game in which the comic is based on.- Incredibly funny!- Each story follows the game's, but with the obviously needed plot adaptation from the videogame to the comics, what gives a feeling of novalty even for those who already played each Zelda game dozens of times.- Totally worth value for the price.Cons:- The page's material seems very cheap, although it is a thick one. Could be a little brighter. Not a problem to people used to original manga format.- Sometimes, in favor of humor, Link's personality is deformed. He sounds goofy sometimes, even nonsense. In others, he is overly confident in his power and abilities, arrogant-type of hero. It is not even close to the character you care so much about in the games. Maybe he is not that boring in the games because does not talk, who knows...- It is hard to accept that two comics were dedicated to Four Swords games (one for each game), two for Oracles games (again, one for each game) and none to Wind Waker. Even worse, there aren't Zelda 1 and 2 (from NES) comics either. I just did not like the fact that these games stories lost space to other games' that are almost spin-offs (just "almost" because Hyrule Historia linked everything). On the other side, a great "spin-off" is absent, which is Link's Awakening, but Majora's Mask thankfully is in the set.Overall: 8/10. I really liked and I am not disapointed, but it could definitely be better.

I bought this set for my grandson for Christmas... He is a huge Legend of Zelda fan and I thought this would be something unique...since he already owns all the games. He is familiar with how Manga's read so I was not concerned about that. I figured it would take him a while to read through the 10 books and would help pass some of the winter boredness. Well I gave them to him for Christmas.... two weeks later he finished the series! So if that is any indication of how completely any Zelda fan would like this... You have to get these for them... Very Pleased with my purchase!!!! Also buying this in a box set saved over half the cost of buying the books individually.

It does not have many pics or drawings of St. Nazaire refit. This is the main reason I purchased this book.

I have just purchased the second edition (published in 2004) of this book. While all the books of the "Anatomy of the Ship" series are labours of love for their creators, I am somewhat disappointed with the result of Mr. Ross's effort, and I feel that the editors of the Conway Maritime Press have lowered their high standards in publishing this title.Now, it could be argued that as there are no actual vessels of this type remaining in existence, some details just are not available, but this argument does not carry very far when one considers the very high standards of the books in this series on the Yamato, Hood, Victorious, and Warspite.The most irritating feature of the drawings is the absence of frame space numbering on the various scrap views of the ships profile (except for two sketches which are obviously direct reproductions of original builders drawings). This makes it a little difficult for the ship-enthusiast to orient him- (or her-) self while picturing the vessel in the mind's eye. Another basic fault, considering the industry standard for the presentation of ship drawings, is that none of the profile views indicate the names of each of the decks.The plan views of the various decks do not include basic details like doors or hatches through bulkheads (but perhaps these were few in number, as I realize these historically-significant vessels were built austerely).Unlike other books of this series, the only engine room auxiliary equipment which is given a separate illustration is one of the propulsion steam condensers. It would have been interesting to see drawings of an American-made evaporator, or feed water pump, as other books in the series do provide these details...No mention is made in the text or drawings of the electrical generation equipment, nor are there any photographs or drawings showing details of the accomodations...I do know from reading other accounts of the St. Nazaire Raid of March 1942 that the explosive charge was made up of a number of depth charges, and was located in the hull just aft of the pillar supporting the 12-pounder on the focsle, but this book does not mention these details, nor does any drawing even show the location of this pillar...I am a ship enthusiast and own five of the titles in the Anatomy of the Ship series, and this is the first book in the series that I have purchased that I feel is not worthy of a five-star rating. It is a shame that Conway Maritime Press did not take the opportunity with this second edition, published in 2004, to address these flaws which existed since the original 1990 edition.Apparently this is only the second review of this book that has been submitted to Amazon: the first one gave it a 5-star rating. If Conway decides to someday publish a third edition (maybe in some down-loadable format??), and brings this title up to the standard of other books in this series, I will gladly give it a higher rating, but compared to other books in this series, it rates a 2-star from me.

This book contains the best plans of flushdecker as I found. I suggest this book for all modelers. Personally I make a good model from this plans. Some very good quality photos included in this book are very useful too. Based on plans of early version of Campbeltown You can make model of almost all fourpipers as You want.

How's this for a distinguished way for a reviewer to describe a book? It was okay.While parts of it were mildly amusing, many more parts of it were absolutely boring. Because I'm the kind of reader who finishes what I start no matter what, I found myself plodding through too much of the book to give it more than three stars.But I have to give author Garrison Keillor a lot of credit for creating this fictional town of Lake Wobegon, Minnesota. He not only populates it with a wide assortment of characters, but also gives it a history and backstory that are a real credit to the man's phenomenal imagination. That said, the history and backstory of Lake Wobegon are yawningly tedious and uninteresting—and that's the entire first third of the book. So enormous patience and dedication are required on the part of the reader.The book is essentially a series of vignettes about life in Lake Wobegon, taking place primarily—but not exclusively—in the 1950s, with bold leaps—sometimes without warning—into the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Yes, it can be very confusing. (At one point, I thought we were in the '50s-'60s timeframe when suddenly there was a reference to the rock band AC/DC.) The stories bleed into each other, sometimes without even the benefit of a paragraph break.More than anything, I was disappointed. I expected more.

After listening to Keillor on the radio for many years, I figured it was time to read one of his books. Lake Wobegon Days is a great description of the author's fictitious hometown in Minnesota. Keillor did a great job of bringing me into the town--that I wish was my hometown, and watching the antics of the residents.As a normal "fast" reader, I was surprised how long it took me to get through this book. However, it dawned on me that it was due to Keillor's slow story-telling voice echoing through my head as I read, reading the book to me--which only made the it better. On a few occasions I tried to plow through some pages at my normal pace and in my own voice, but it didn't work. I went back and let Keillor's voice read it to me and it all made sense.

I can hear his melodious voice throughout the book ... about the time I first began listening to a prairie home companion I'd started a relationship with a woman whose parents had come from a small town in Wisconsin. I'd come from a slightly larger town in Indiana. Had cousins in Minneapolis. The Hoosier farmers in my family were cosmopolitan compared to foreigners, but republicans, Lutherans, not much on humor. My soon to be wife was of Norwegian stock. A candle I called them the word droll epitomizes keillors humor. Very, very insightful in the dreaded environment of such stark, damaging functionality ... No wonder alcoholism is so prevalent, but that word's. Rarely used, as it was in my Catholic Irish family. The sharp edge of ethnic heritages impact on humans is like a surgical scalpel in keillors hands. Superb a tremendously funny read, but opens up some painful experiences,too

And who would have thought of blending three events, Lutheran pastors on a pontoon boat, a hot air balloon, and a scattering of ashes cremony could produce such laughs from a reader. I actually started laughing so hard I thought I'd never stop. If laughter is good for the soul, mine definitely got a lift from this book.

Great stories by a beloved and gifted writer. Along the way ou'll learn the history and characters of Lake Wobegon. If you love Prairie Home Companion, you'll appreciate the stories here that give background to many of his weekly presentations on public radio.

I have listened to and read most of Keillor's material. I purchased this for a long car ride and enjoyed it again. I read the book several years ago and listened to on the old tape deck. Glad to see his material for the Echo.

I suspect the author has a good insight into World War II and the feelings of the country at that time. The story is of an underage Jewish boy who enlists in the Army, winds up on a combat crew of a B-17 flying missions over Europe. His large size and appearance get him through the training and missions without detection and he functions well in the military. During that war I too was too young to go but grew up large and looked old enough. I remember walking down the street and people calling me 4-F and asking why I wasn't in uniform. I was only 15 at the time and felt ashamed. At that time everyone went. So different now when only a small percent of our young people serve and suffer and most of us go on as if nothing is happening.The boy in this story goes underage and does well. The author either went through the combat part of the story or listened to one who did. Well done. I think the conclusion was good and presented an excellent commentary on war which no one really listens to.

The Last Mission will appeal to many, even those who usually don't read war stories. Mr. Mazer's wrote about characters who have personalities, can think and bring the story to life. I was fascinated with the detail involved in undertaking a bombing mission over Germany and/or her allies. Very realistic and believable. Thank you Harry for an enjoyable read.Beth Bristow

This was an excellent read. The story is moving and compelling, couldn't put it down. Exciting, heartbreaking, rewarding, a heartfelt and enduring story about one man's changing understanding about the ideology behind war.

My 12 yo grandson really enjoyed reading this, understood everything.

Great coming of age story. Short little read as well.

I found the storyline riveting. Read the book in two sittings, just could not put it down. A recommendation by a friend who served during WWII and he told me it was a wonderful read, which it was.JimE

The Gods of guilt are us. We, who have a conscience, a sense of morality, a sense of humanity, and everything that makes us compassionate.Mickey lost his election bid for DA and this is months later. He has become estranged from his 15 year old daughter. She still sees life in black and white, right or wrong, nothing in between. To make matters worse between them, Mickey is called on to defend a digital pimp who is accused of killing one of his girls. He had defended that same girl several years ago and she had a special place in his heart. He had helped her out of the life, or did he?Clearing this client might clear up several crimes from years before and he has his usual antagonists who don't want to stir the pot. He is accused of muddying the water by bringing in evidence and witnesses from seemingly unrelated cases. However, the judge gives him the leeway he needs and things get done, but not before there is collateral damage.I like the method of story telling that leads me to believe that trials are actually conducted in the manner this books talks about. Defense attorneys are the scum of the earth, but, like vultures, they do have their place in society...making sure that their clients are represented and treated fairly in all things related to law.

There is not much praise I can give Michael Connelly that has not already been heaped upon him by his readers and by critics. His crime writing is absolute genius. His series featuring Detective Harry Bosch is one of my favorite crime novel series. While I prefer Bosch to Mickey Haller, the Lincoln Lawyer, the other main character of several Connelly novels, including the one I review here The Gods of Guilt, I find that Haller is almost as fascinating as Bosch. I think my prejudice for Bosch lies in the fact that he is solving a crime while Haller is presenting a defense—and yes, solving the crime in the process, but somehow the courtroom setting is not quite as appealing to me as all of LA, which the Bosch novels use. That being said, Connelly is a legal scholar. In this novel, his character Haller presents his case in a detailed propulsion of evidence until there is no doubt what the legal outcome will be. And yet, the final scene is a stunner. This is what great writing is about, and Connelly is a great writer. Telling the tale of a high-tech pimp accused of murdering one of his prostitute clients, we grow to love both of them, for we know, as is necessary in a novel like this (so I offer no spoilers) that the pimp is innocent. And we know that Haller will present an explosive defense, even as we know he may bend the law a bit to get the job done. Supporting him are some colorful characters indeed: his biker investigator, his ex-wife secretary, his mentor in the nursing home, his sometimes-con driver Earl, and the brilliant young lawyer Haller has hired to assist him in his firm, a firm that is run out of a Lincoln town car, hence the moniker Lincoln Lawyer. And Connelly doesn’t shy away from several mentions that Haller had been portrayed in a movie—said movie being The Lincoln Lawyer starring Matthew McConaughey as Haller. Being not only a writer, but a prominent source of a Bosch TV series and a couple or more movies based on his books, Connelly embraces that with gusto, endearing his readers for he seems to be saying, “See. I know you saw the movie, so I’ll just use it in the plot.” What fun!

It can have more than one meaning when it comes to this story. The guilt that's been placed on Mickey's client; the guilty actions the antagonists take to cover their tracks; or defense attorney Mickey Haller, who lost more than he's run for the DA's office after a former client gets in an accident. The public and his daughter vilified him. Eventually he comes across a client whose been arrested for murder and he wants Mickey representing him. The victim turned out to be Gloria Dayton, a prostitute Mickey had believed had gotten out of the life. He had represented her on multiple occasions in the past. Her suspected murderer is her pimp whom Mickey believes to be innocent and will do everything in his power to defend.Out of all of The Lincoln Lawyer novels, believe this one to be the best so far. The title has an interesting meaning that I will let the reader enjoy on their own. This is Mickey Hall at his all time low. He's alienated his daughter, the public didn't want him for their district attorney and when things just might be getting better for Mr. Lucky, he will lose another soul he cares about.This book is Michael Connelly at his best.
